4l60e Tail Housing Swap - I have a 4l60e trans from a 2002 ta ws6 that is missing a tail shaft housing. I plan on useing it in a ls swap into a foxbody mustang. i'm not very familiar with this transmission but i know. I have somehow gotten a crack in 4l60e bellhousing. It is in my 96 gmc 1500 4x4 5. 7, but i had to change the tranny out of a 98 tahoe 4x4 some time ago due to cracks. I ended up constructing a tail shaft housing trans mout that bolts to the horizontal cross member bolts on the 4l60e, and on the top of the case at the rear. It triangulates to a c.
